Hello Rootschatters.

After meeting two cousins (who are also delving into our ancestors), for the first time this year, I became interested again in Margaret Rebecca Daniels, who was born in Yorkshire (we think) in 1838.
She married William Bisset 19 April 1858 at Port Lincoln, South Australia.
William died in 1864 and she remarried 3 May 1870 to John Fitzgerald, 1827-1901.

On 19 September 1878 she was admitted to the Adelaide Hospital.

She was discharged 29 September 1878.

According to the Hospital Record she had been in the colony for 20 years and had arrived on the "Red Jacket".

I cannot find her on any lists.
Can any one please point me to the right direction?

Thankyou
Chris

I see on ancestry Adelaide Hospital Admission records that she died 21 Nov 1878. There is a funeral notice in the South Australian Advertiser 22.11.1878 however it does not give much information

ancestry tree
Departure    20 Nov 1857 • Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Age 20 —Arrival
28 Jan 1858 • Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Aboard 'Red Jacket' On the hospital admission before her death it says she came on the 'Red Jacket' aged 20 years

I can't see a passenger list, however the Red Jacket arrived at Port Phillip (not Sydney) on 29 January 1858 after a 68 day passage. 450 "intermediate passengers".

I have found a record that is possibly her:

She arrived on the Saphire in 1846 in Tasmania and then went to Sydney.

If this isn't her I can't find any arrival yet for the time line on another ship.

Let me know if you have an ancestry account if not I can upload an image for you.

It may not be her yet.  I have found a Margaret Daniels on the ship "Saphire".  It arrived in Tasmania in 1846

OK Oneday, where to from here?

Is there any info with her passage?
ie family?
Would the Red Jacket have travelled later on via Tassie?
And, would there be a record?
So many questions.
Thankyou.

If you have ancestry it's freely available.  If not let me know and I will organise a copy.
