Baby inquest and parents of Harold George Yates
« on: Sunday 30 June 24 01:27 BST (UK) »
Harold George Yates born 1914 died 1915

What I can see
Baby's dea..((th) ...(black) Pool
An inquest was..........(l)ast night, on the body of (obscured/highlighted but likely to  be) Harold George Yates aged 15 Months
"Mrs Brown a visitor from Leeds, who was staying at 17 Endington road, with her sister-in-law, the mother of the deceased said that on Saturday  morning when carrying the child downstairs her foot slipped, causing her to fall forward. She attempted to grasp the handrail and in delay as she fell on her right side at .......
headline in Lancashire Evening.....

The other entry in the Blackpool Gazette has a part of story as "little victim was Harold   George Yates and he was the son Yr (might be mis-type for Mr.) and Mrs H.C. Yates of IL...)

What I need to know, is whether anyone has found these entries on newspaper's.com. I have a limited subscription due to expire in early July, but cannot find these entries.
The above wording I did find was on Findmypast.com.au. but don't have a subscription on this.
I don't have either of the parents names, but his mother  had the surname Bannan, in a birth index record. Harold George Yates  is buried with his great grandmother in Harehills Cemetery. West Yorkshire, England. Her name, Ellen (Sampson) Davies
The information on Ellen's entry isn't correct, so I'd like to find the parents of Harold George so I can send in a correction and the information off the inquest may help and also be an interesting addition to our family history.

Woah  :D That was a find Rosie, great stuff ;D

Annie Elizabeth Yates was born 25 July 1910, and died 1995 in Leeds under same name  - looks as if never married. Her birth date on Death Index matches the 1939 entry. I think she is likley to be the "Jennie Elizabeth" you found?

Haven't found Harry yet- but here is Mary Elizabeth going to the US in 1909, it says her mother is M Brannan. All fits with your findings!

TRAVEL 1909: SS Cedric arrived NewYork 28 Aug 1909, out of Liverpool 21 Aug 1909

Line 28: Mary E BRANNAN 23, single, Cigar maker,
Last residence in UK: Leeds, England
Relative in UK: Mother M Brannan, 2 Back Sackett Street, Leeds.
Destination: Chicago Illinois
Going to in US: (illegible) U C Yates, 423 No. Clark St, Chicago
Description:  5',1", Fair sking, Dark Hair, Dark eyes. Born York, England

And pretty sure this them in 1910 - Harry was a Bricklayer in the UK 1911:

CENSUS 1910: 310 Tell Court Street, Chicago (Ward 23), Cook, Illinois

Head: Harry YATES 25, married 1, b England, parents b England, imm. 1905 Pa. Bricklayer (Building). Married 1 year.
Wife: Elizabeth YATES 24, married 1, b England, parents b England, imm. 1909. No children born of marriage.
Lodger: Zach? Haines or Maines, 37, single, b England, parents b England, imm. 1909 Al. Shoemaker (Factor

So possibly married in Chicago also?
