D L Ramsay Fruit Stand
« on: Friday 28 June 24 00:12 BST (UK) »
My Great Grandfather David Lawson Ramsay owned a fruit store on the Hawkhill in Dundee back in the early 1900S circa 1920 I think. I was wondering if there is anywhere I can research where this might have been or if this building is still around. I am looking to visit Dundee next year to trace my family roots. My Mom was born in Dundee in 1926.

Thank you.

From the index to the Valuation rolls.

1920 valuation rolls
RAMSAY   DAVID      TENANT/OCCUPIER   SHOP 33 HAWKHILL   DUNDEE   1920   VR009800149-

1925 valuation rolls
RAMSAY   DAVID      TENANT/OCCUPIER   SHOP 33 HAWK HILL   DUNDEE   1925   VR009800189-

From a quick google search, I think the area is now all modernised, and it is unlikely you will find the old shop.

Thank you to all how have provided this information. I appreciate it very much. Sounds like my Great Grandfather was a bit of a rebel in his day.
