marriage of William Martin
« on: Thursday 27 June 24 21:52 BST (UK) »
Could anyone help me plz find a marriage of William Martin and a Ann in 1799 Folksworth Huntingdonshire.
Newspaper article says William at the time was a military man and doing duty at Yaxley barracks. I am trying to find Ann's maiden name.
Any help would be greatly received xx

A little more information would be helpful,

Do you know for a fact they got married in Folksworth?
Presumably you have looked on all the usual sites to find this, and have been unsuccessful.

What is the newspaper article about? Presumably not an entry about their marriage, or it would have given his wife's name.

If he was a soldier, he could have moved around the country.

When and where were their children born?

Year 1799
First name(s)  William
Last name  Martin, Martyn, Marten
Spouse's first name(s)  Anne
Spouse's last name  Ingram
Place  Folksworth

The various regiments and militias at Yaxley Barracks c1799 can be tracked using newspapers.

Example

July 1799 -
"...volunteers were attested at Yaxley Barracks into the 7th Regiment, from part of the Leicestershire, Middlesex, and North Yorkshire militias, now on duty there".

Ashtone..thank you so much...I was hoping it was Ingram...William Martin and Ann Ingram are my 5x grandparents according to the birth records of my 4x grandmother Jane Martin...I couldn't find any info on them until I found the newspaper article...I could never find a marriage for them..Do you think  Ann Ingram was born in Huntingdon?
