In 1896 Mary Lacken lived at 15 Balls lane off Arran St East in Dublin, Mary sold fish and would gut her fish in the back yard of her home at Balls lane, in May 1896 Mary would lose her temper with her teenage son John aged 15 after he constantly complained about his breakfast that morning, Mary threw a pair of large scissors she was using at her son and sadly one of the blades embedded in his back, she instantly regretted her actions and pulled the scissor blade from his back, but the lad ran a short distance from his home and eventually dropped to the ground a short distance away, despite been aided by a local policeman he sadly died before he reached a nearby hospital.
Mary was arrested but im at a loss to discover what became of her, hopefully someone may have access to newpaper article which may have covered the case in late May 1896.
