Hythe
« on: Monday 24 June 24 06:55 BST (UK) »
Good morning all you kentish folk!
I was on a coach trip to Hythe on Saturday, what a lovely town, somewhere if I had the chance  I would move to, anyway, down the High Street from the Old Post Office on the left hand side was a lovely haberdashery type department store I suppose you would call it, sold bed linen and similar things, it was closed due to refurbishment, does anyone know when it is going to open, said June on the door but doesn't look as if much was being done,  would have liked to have a roam in there, purchased  items in there last time we came to Hythe, the 4 of us were disappointed.

If you mean Eldridges its Facebook page does not give a date for reopening.

Hi Rosie
I don't know the name but it is a nice shop, only go to Hythe once a year using up spare seats on the  local bowls club friendly, I don't play bowls, we are allowed to take up spare seats which keeps our local bowls club expenses going ,  we mooch along then finish off at the club house having had a really nice day out.
A shame if Eldridges don't  open again

Thank you Rosie.

Hi
My local town.
Seems as if they have "hit a brick wall" in the repairs. literally. Seems the structural problems are slightly worse than they thought. Not had any updates recently.

I think it is a lovely place, no brash seaside stuff because I think the beach might be stones, the , think it is called Military  canal,  runs from Hythe to Folkestone , lovely to watch the swans and ducks, steeped in history, it does have a high street with interesting shops, the bowls club coach goes one a year, if the weather is right it is a lovely day out.
