Carney/Kearney family Dundalk
« on: Saturday 15 June 24 20:02 BST (UK) »
My gg grandparents were John Carney/Kearney and Mary Duffy. I have very little information on them either before or after they show up in Chicago, IL in 1874. I have many autosomal matches whose ancestors come from Louth (Dundalk area). I share DNA with a group who came to St. Louis as well as one who came to Chicago. The earliest known Louth ancestors are William Kearney and Margaret/Mary Hodges. The earliest known Louth ancestors whose descendants went to St. Louis are Patrick Kearney and Mary Mackin and Patrick Francis Kearney and Mary Corcoran. I am wondering if Patrick Kearney and Patrick Francis Kearney are the same person. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. This is my first time posting on Rootschat.

You really need to give some dates and more information for anyone to try to help.
Was John Carney and Mary Duffy married by 1874? Did the marry in Ireland? Were any of their children born in Ireland.
Have you got an idea when they were born.

The other couples in your post, were they in America or did they remain in Ireland, any clues when they were born or married?
Where their children were born and when.

My gg grandparents, John Carney/Kearney and Mary Duffy, left few records. No marriage record has been found in Chicago where they first appear in an 1874 baptism record at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. No death records have been found for either person after intense search. All I have is a reported death date for John from his wife Mary as February 14, 1884.

I am looking for information on William Kearney and his wife Mary/Margaret Hodges who lived in Louth. They had these children: William b. 1855, Michael b. 1856, Mary Ann b. 1860 and Patrick. I am seeking the parents of William Sr. and where they lived. Thank you.

I now know that William Kearney and Mary/Margaret Hodges lived in Annagassan, Louth where their children were born. The three brothers (William, Michael and Patrick) moved to Townparks, Dundalk, Urban No. 3 as shown in the 1901/1911 censuses. Their sister, Mary Ann married Thomas Lynch and lived in Linn, near her parents in Annagassan. Still seeking information on the parents of William Kearney Sr. He was a carpenter.
