In 1891, Richard Wm Massey, born Trowell, Nottinghamshire, was living in Trowell, son of William and Elizabeth. Matches his birth place on the 1911 census.

There was an inquest about the death of Sarah Bloor, of 8 Orchard Street, which said that she had fallen down some steps on leaving the Empire Cinema.
 Verdict "Death by misadventure, accelerated by a fall."
 Dr Alan Murphy said the death was due to heart failure.

Another, in The long Eaton Advertiser, 9th September, headed:-

Lengthy report which mentions a great-grand-daughter, *** Massey, a little girl who was with her when she fell.

William H Massey married Doris Turberfield in Ilkeston District in 1940, and had three children, including *** in 1941

Although the siblings were baptised as Shephard, the GRO has them as Massey, mmn Sheppard or Shephard.

It sounds as though Evelyn was living with Richard Massey, but not married to him.
