Anne Phillips arrived NSW 16 Jun 1858 on the vessel Castilian
« on: Tuesday 11 June 24 17:14 BST (UK) »
Anne, the daughter of Robert Thomas Phillips and Ellin (nee) Evans, was baptised at Llanberis, Caernarvonshire on 13 Mar 1836. Her illegitimate son John was baptised 24 Oct 1853, also at Llanberis.
John was raised by his grandparents, Anne travelled alone to Australia.

I can find no records for Anne after her arrival in Australia can anyone help? I'm particularly interested in finding any of her descendants.

You can search for births, deaths, marriages in NSW here.
https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search?4

If she moved to another state, you would search in that state.

They went to Victoria, John died and Ann remarried.  Thought we might let dragonT have a crack first.

I am also looking for an Anne Phillips - can't find her before she married James Watson in 1866 (of full age) in Auckland, New Zealand.

I wonder if this is "your" Anne too.

Many thanks for all replies - very helpful.

DebNZ: Given what follows it seems 'my' Anne is different.

cupoflife: The marriage to John Goodwin in 1858 and the birth of Robert Goodwin in 1866 could well refer to 'my' Anne Phillips. Could there be any supporting evidence available other than through buying copy certificates? Where does the marriage date - 20/10/1858 - come from?

Debra/Dundee: From Victoria records I see that John Goodwin died in 1873 aged 38, he was born FLIN (which means?) and his father was Edward. Very helpfully it gives his spouse as Ann Phillips.
Anne Goodwin then marries Alfred Quinton in Victoria in 1874. (No other details)
Ann Quinton died Melb Hosp in 1884 age 48. Her father's name of Robert Phillips is useful supporting evidence.
Find a Grave does not seem to have any of these burials.

Sadly, there is a death (6587/1874) of Robert Goodwin age 8 in Victoria records. He has father John and mother Ann Phillips.

Just a matter of narrowing down the date by year, then by month, then by week within that month  and further narrow down narrow down by day.

The best value for money would be her second marriage certificate to QUINTON. It should give an age, place of birth, and the names of both her parents.
