One man two regiments
« on: Friday 07 June 24 11:44 BST (UK) »
I'm just trying to figure out the circumstances which led to James Broadfoot being in two different regiments. I've found 2 pension cards for him. One showing that he was in the Scottish Rifles, no 2973, declared insane and sent to Pitton/Pilton. Another showing that he was in the Royal Scots Fusiliers, no 16247, declared missing presumed dead in 1915.

Annie Taylor was the mother of his illegitimate child and that is the same address (40 Logie Street, Govan) for Annie on the pension card that's also given on the child's birth record. There is also another pension record for James Broadfoot, no 2973, and it's the same address (134 Langlands Road, Govan) for him that's given on the child's birth record.

Does it look like he re enlisted after being declared insane??

You've listed two different addresses above relating to the child's birth record.  ???

The Silver War Badge records show :

I've had a look at the 1952 Death Certificate. It confirms James BROADFOOT aged 70 died 6 Oct 1952 at 510 Crookston Road , Glasgow , the address of Leverndale Hospital. The parents are Alexander BROADFOOT and Isabella BROADFOOT , nee Telfer, the same parents given for the "other" James BROADFOOT.   ???

Hopefully the OP will confirm the year and address on the child's birth record (mum Annie Taylor).
