London Auxiliary Fire Service, the Blitz
« on: Thursday 06 June 24 15:47 BST (UK) »
My father (1903-1997) served in the AFS in the Blitz, but his service there was fairly short and he returned to civilian life. Where might I find a record of the time and nature of his service?

The National Archives hold various records re. The London Auxiliary Fire Service. If you visit this link you will see them listed and can add his name to your search. That might turn something up.

You could also try contacting the London Fire Brigade Museum.

But discouragingly I should add that I’ve found unsourced references to the personnel records for the Service having been destroyed.
