Same for 1924 onward births.

GRO says
The following can be ordered through our GRO online ordering service...
Online View digital image for...birth entries from 1837 up to 100 years ago

But still waiting for 1924 births to become available as digital images. Hopefully not long!

Yes I tried the other day. You can still order a PDF for births up to 1934 I think.

Also not forgetting many births in Nov and Dec 1924 were registered in Jan, Feb 1925, so when 1924 becomes available for digital downloads, anyone born in Dec 1924 but registered in Jan 1925 will have to be ordered via the old way or through a PDF for another year I assume.

I am quite fascinated by the civil registration system and the 6 weeks usually allowed for birth registrations and 5 days for deaths. I have 2 deaths of ancestors in 1929 and 1947, registered in the first quarter of the 2 years, but when I got the certs, they died on the very last day of 1928 and 1946. Registered 2nd Jan 1929 and 3rd Jan 1947.

1929 and 1947 did see harsh winters for the UK but the deaths were nothing to do with them I think.
