Gray/Muckian of Dundalk
« on: Saturday 01 June 24 19:24 BST (UK) »
I am looking to see if anyone has any information on Sarah Muckian who married Bernard Gray in Dundalk, 1867. Her father's name is not clear on their marriage record.
many thanks

I can see a transcript of a record for a Sarah Muckian baptised in 1845 for a Francis Muckian and Mary Hanratty, no denomination explicitly mentioned, just the parish of Donaghmoyne, Co. Monaghan. Same parish and for parents recorded as Francis Muckian and Anne Hanratty, a James Muckian was baptised in 1842, a Susan Muckian was baptised in 1848, and a Catherine Muckian was baptised in 1852.

Marriage of a Susan Muckian to a Bernard Brannigan in Dundalk in 1876, her father Francis recorded as a shoemaker:

Thank you both!
I now have solved the name issues and gone back another generation with your help.
Would either of you know when the Muckians moved to Dundalk?
thanks again

The Valuation Revision Books which follow on from the printed version of Griffith's Valuation are useful. For Northern Ireland counties they are online (PRONI, Belfast) and continue to almost 1930. I'm sure someone will be able to direct to to those books for County Louth.
You can also look for vital records for the family and see what the earliest record might be.
Looking at the 1901 census the oldest Muckians are born in County Louth so perhaps worth browsing through church records also. https://registers.nli.ie/
