GRO British Forces births overseas - ordering a cert?

My message about birth certificates in India 1900 was swept away befopre I had finished writing. The British Library holds the India Office records, and after searching for ages for my father's birth registration, a very helpful person there told me that at that date there were no birth certificates, only baptismal certificates.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that this search was conducted entirely by Internet/telephone. The helpful person I found answered when I phoned and a copy of my father's baptismal certificate was emailed to me.
