« on: Wednesday 29 May 24 18:49 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me find the marriage for my uncle
Thomas Anthony O’Brien
Born July 1915 Dublin  died 1982  Essex
Parents Edward and Jane OBrien
Jane being a Horan before marriage
He married Katherine Byrne or Kathleen
In Dublin I have no idea of the year but he was married by 1956
I belive he was in the army but I can find no record of this
Thank you

Online marriage certs only go to 1948 at the moment, I don’t see them but you can check here
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
The index on Family Search up to 1958 won’t show page and vol anymore by the looks of things and never showed spouse surname so with such common names they would be hard to pick out.
There is a Thomas A O’Brien in Oct /Dec 1956 Dublin South and two Catherine M Byrne with same detail but may not be them.

To possibly narrow down the Marriage date search, maybe if you were aware of apprx what year his eldest child was born (if any), normally a child born within a year or so of marriage.

established now that their marriage was approximately 1952 there is a marriage for 1953 for both names but olobviously I can’t put in my tree unless I buy the certificate from Dublin
Just about to find out how much this will cost me
Thanks for your help
