This comes at a bad time for me . I have been asked to investigate a mystery for someone whose DNA I manage but is not related

It  takes me a while to get my head round any new system.

I haven't looked at ancestry since this happened and am very busy in June tho docs orders are to rest

Thanks for any updates + hints on how to manage these changes ....yes photos will be useful

Some people are saying they still have coloured dots, not coloured squares - I have dots on my 1st page, then squares for matches!

You need a 'proper' Ancestry subscription/membership in order to be able to purchase Pro Tools (AncestryDNA Plus is not sufficient).
AnotherDay - Do you have to have the new beta version to get the additional functionality in Pro Tools. When I follow the link the support page does not include the new functionality. Just the "old" functions which are of no interest to me. I don't have the new beta version so I am wondering if the new shared match functionality in Pro Tools is only available if you have the beta version.

I don't have the new beta version but I added Pro Tools yesterday. Unfortunately I can't see how many cMs shared matches share with each other.

However, I am using the functions of Pro Tools, checking for errors in my tree (there aren't many) Trees are rated out of 10 - mine is 9.8.

I noticed this watching a You Tube video a couple of days ago - the genealogist that posted it had a tree rating of 7.7.

I would be interested to know how "It" checks for errors in a tree, considering "It" is constantly suggesting hints for impossible ancestors. You know the sort - buried years before they died, women giving birth at four years old  to children just two months apart on different continents or even better, 50 years after their death.
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

I had one of those. On the 1911 Census where children that had died had been crossed out. I attached one to my tree but Pro Tools told me off because I had a record for a person who had died.

So based on that if people use pro tools it could "theoretically" help getting rid of some errors (wishful thinking).

You need to have a 'proper' membership/subscription to be eligible to purchase Pro Tools.

I suggest people log out of Ancestry. Then try to purchase Pro Tools using this link:

https://support.ancestry.com/s/article/Ancestry-Pro-Tools-Membership?language=en_US

I didn't have the Beta version when I tried this - and I only went looking for Pro Tools because someone said they had the new tools.

It's possible that Ancestry is still rolling it out - and that I got lucky.

brigidmac - The new DNA tools available with Pro Tools are very easy to understand and make life so much easier. The only trick is when looking at the matches you share with a match, in the bottom left hand corner there will be 1 and an arrow or 1 of 1 - the former means click on the arrow to go to the next page.

I've had a "proper" membership for about 20 years. I've logged out an in several times but still no cMs for shared matches.
