Margaret Macdonald - looking for marriage record
« on: Wednesday 29 May 24 00:41 BST (UK) »
I have recently received a copy of some handwritten notes that were taken by a relative, likely in the early 2000s, who is no longer around.

In those notes there is a reference to our 2x great aunt Margaret MacDonald, born 1883 in Arbroath marrying a man by the name Duncan (not sure if a first or last name) who was a contractor on Blackness Road. They apparently had children Rita, James and John but I can find no record of a marriage or these children.

Margaret was the daughter of James MacDonald and Ann Ramsay. Her sister Annie Macdonald was my ancestor.

Margaret MacDonald, daughter of James MacDonald and Ann Ramsay, died in Dundee in 1938 aged 55.

Her first marriage was in 1908 in Arbroath to James Taylor. Her name is indexed as Maggie.

Her second marriage was in 1922 in Dundee to Charles Ferrie.

There are three Taylor children with mother Macdonald born in Dundee between 1908 and 1922: John, 1910; Henrietta Bell, 1912; and James Patrick 1913.

No sign of any Duncans, either given name or surname.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Ah thanks for this information, it looks like the Duncan connection may be a generation further down with Henrietta marrying a James Duncan in 1939.
