Joan Alice COLLINS (née Newman), 1935-?

I would appreciate any help in finding the death of Joan Alice Collins (née Newman) born 1935.  Relatives recall that she died but not which year or decade.  I have not found a record of her death.  She was born in Colliers Wood and married John Ernest Collins (1931-1989) in Mortlake on 22 September 1956.  My assumption is that she died before her husband, who lived in Mitcham when he died age 58 on 11 October 1989.

Why have you made that assumption??? Any proof?

If she was born in 1935, she could well have survived him.

Those who remember her believe she died in the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s but are not sure of the year or decade.  She had an increasingly debilitating condition in the 1960s.  She is not mentioned in her husband's will in 1989.  They had not separated or divorced.

The electoral register lists Joan living with her husband John Ernest Collins at 22 Hilary Avenue, Mitcham from 1964 on.  She was no longer listed with him in the 1972 register and so depending when the register was taken probably died between 1970 and 1972 when she was in her mid-30s.  I have not found a record of her death in those or any other years, or in newspaper reports.  Relatives believe that she may have drowned, possibly in the River Thames.  John continued to live at 22 Hilary Avenue until his death in 1989 age 58.

May I enquire as to the parents names of Joan Alice, was her mmn Beard and her exact dob . Also did Joan & John have a daughter in 1961. I have found a possible death for Joan but it's well after that of John.

Thanks for your reply.  Joan Alice Newman was born on 21 September 1935, parents Thomas Joseph Newman and Alice Maud Beard.  Yes, Joan and John had a daughter in 1961.

I take it that Thomas and Alice never married as she is his housekeeper in 1939?
