Mary Hartley (born Clegg) death details

I am trying to find details about Mary Clegg my 2nd great grandmother.
She was baptised 20 Aug 1819 at Manchester Cathedral, father James Clegg, mother Ann.
She Married 22 Aug 1839 to John Kennedy at Manchester Cathedral
John Kennedy died 4Q 1853
She remarried 5 Nov 1855 to William Henry Hartley at St Phillips, Manchester

Her last known address was 8 Clayton Street in Manchester (1881 census) where she resided with her son in law Michael Spencer and daughter Elizabeth Alice.

She is in the 1881 census but not the 1891 census, died between 1881 and 1891?

I have checked the UK Registry Office and found 50 Mary Hartley's registered deaths around Manchester between 1881 and 1891. On checking for registrations near Ancoats there were 5 in Chorlton and 1 in Salford (excluded).

I would like help on advising where to search next for details of her death?

Although there are a lot of Mary Hartley deaths - many can be ruled out on age

You say Mary was b 1819 so in 1881 she was about 62.  For a death between 1881 & 1891 you are looking for ages between 62 & 72 which brings it to approx 5 - none fit the location.

Have you ruled out the 1891 entry - widow aged 72 b Manchester &  lodging  with William & Hannah Gledhill

Seeing as her married name was Hartley why is she in the 1881 Census with the surname Whitley? Have you tried looking for a Mary Whitley?

I suspect the 1881 entry is an enumerator error.  i checked & there is no death for William Henry Hartley or a remarriage to a Whitley.

Another error - Daughter is shown as Elizabeth Ann but should be Elizabeth Alice

Was she a widow in 1881?  If you know where/when her husband is buried it could be she is with him.
A headstone if there is one may mention her.

1861 census shows William was younger than Mary - b 1828 ?? Horton Tower Lancs

In 1871 Mary is shown as married but no William.  She & the Hartley children are living with son from first marriage John Kennedy

Her birthyear is shown as 1825 - she is 46
