William Buckley convict sent to Australia
« on: Thursday 02 May 24 03:55 BST (UK) »
Hello.  I am researching William Buckley who was a convict sent to Australia.  I believe that his mother's name was Elizabeth Buckley (father unknown) Baptized 31st March 1872 in Siddington Cheshire (All Saints Church). Elizabeths parents were, i believe, Jonathon and Martha. Is there anyone in the group that can provide any further information about this side of the Buckley family.  Thank you.  Elaine

Hi there and welcome to Rootschat.

By 1872, convict transportation was no longer happening.
Can you clarify - when was William sent to Australia? What records do you have for him in England and Australia?

Perhaps you mean 1782? I can see the baptism of William BUCKLEY at Siddington on 31 March 1782, mother Elizabeth ("Eliz." on the image).

Modified to add:
familysearch have the Bishop's Transcript too:

I can't make out what comes after "March 31 Willm Son of Eliza Buckley Siddington ..."

There are at least 16 William BUCKLEYs who came to Australia as convicts (on https://convictrecords.com.au). Just wondering how you know you have the correct baptism?
