Thank you.
Hopefully there might be more detailed local obituaries published for these dates?

Here is a group photograph of the shipbuilder Scott family taken in 1898, in the center are James and Charlotte, surround by their immediate and close family.
I have been trying exhaustively to put names to these faces, to date without any success, here are the details of what I am sure of (in brackets their age at the time this photograph was taken).
Sorry about the quality of this image, don't know if anybody could improve it please.

So what needs to be confirmed please, are the names of James's parents, his siblings, and their offspring:

James Scott Sn. 1831- 13th Oct 1903 married Charlotte Wood 1827- 6th Dec1917
Children:
Charles Wood Scott 1858-1931 (40) married in 1886 Elizabeth George (41) 1857-1926
James Scott Junior 1860-1950 (38) married Marion Strang 1861-1946 (37)

Scottish death certificates from 1855 onwards tell you the full names of both parents of the deceased, assuming of course that the informant knew this.

In your case Charlotte Wood, other surname Scott, died in Old Kilpatrick, and her mother's maiden surname was McLachlan.
James Scott, aged 72, died in Old Kilpatrick in 1903, and his mother's maiden surname was Watson.

Scottish baptism records usually tell you the maiden surname of the child's mother. James Scott, son of James Scott and Agnes Watson, was baptised on 3 January 1831 in Old Kilpatrick. He was one of nine children. See screenshot.

You will of course require to view the death certificates to be sure that I have got the correct people, and to see who the informant was.

The originals of all these documents can be viewed online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It's pay-per-view but modestly priced.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

There's no death of Marion Wilson or Scott in Scotland in 1857. Marion Wilson or Scott, mother's maiden surname Lockhart, died in Old Kilpatrick in 1889 aged 68.

Robert Scott, mother's maiden surname Watson, died in Old Kilpatrick in 1888 aged 71.

James Scott, aged 90, died in Old Kilpatrick in 1950. Mothers' maiden names are still being added for the 1940s and 1950s.

Robert Watson Scott died in Old Kilpatrick in 1944 aged 79.

Margaret Scott, mother's maiden surname Wilson, died in Old Kilpatrick in 1926 aged 66.

You must check all the death certificates to make sure they are the right people.

If you need any more, it's easy to look them up for yourself at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk - anything after 1855 is in the statutory records of births, marriages and deaths. Earlier events, if the record exists, will be in the church records.
