Hi All,
I am looking for Catherine Holliday born around 1818 in Ireland (although the 1861 and 1881 census says born St Lukes/Whitecross Middlesex).
We are trying to find her place of birth in Ireland.
The family were in and out of St Lukes workhouse from at least January 1861.
Catherine's parents are living with them in 1851 (surname transcribed as Rollowday on Ancestry) but both died in 1856.
Her husband Samuel also dies in the workhouse in 1864.
I found them in the 1861 census at 1 London Passage, St Lukes but for some reason I can only find the record on FindMyPast and not on Ancestry, which is annoying as I am not subscribed. Can anyone find it on Ancestry?
A daughter Eliza is transferred to the Caterham Asylum, Surrey where she is on the 1871 census and dies in 1877 we think. 2 daughters named Ellen die as infants and Mary/Margaret dies in August Q 1861. William marries in 1857.
Catherine is in the workhouse in the 1881 census and then she dies in November the same year, still in the workhouse.
There are various Workhouse admission records for them in Holborn but as far as I can see Catherine should be inside in 1871 but I have been all the way through the entries of St Lukes Workhouse - Shepherdess Walk or City Road Workhouse (Called Holborn Union Workhouse I think in 1871 and 1881) and can't see them. I have also searched the Holborn Union Workhouse in 1861, but I am not sure if in 1871 it was the Grays Inn site that I need (although I couldn't find that on Ancestry).
Can anyone find her anywhere?
