1876 Marriage
« on: Wednesday 10 April 24 15:49 BST (UK) »
Hi, Is anyone able to help me please? Trying to find a Marriage which I believe took place in Gateshead Durham, in 1876, all nine of their children were baptised in St Josephs Catholic Church, beginning  registered Jan 1877 through to Jan 1895 the couple were Patrick Henry b Abt 1851 and his wife  Mary O'Neill  b1852 they were both from Londonderry Northern Ireland, but Mary stated on the 1921 census she was from Greenlough, Londonderry, I have exhausted (I think) all the Ireland avenues but as yet drawn a blank. I have recently contacted Tyne and Wear Archives, but its not happening quickly enough.......probably got a backlog of enquiries, any suggestions/help would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Have you looked on the Free BMD index which covers births, marriages, deaths for England & Wales.

Not all couples actually married so be prepared not to find one.

Well there is a Patrick Henry marriage in Gateshead 1876 but neither of the possible brides were Mary O'Neill.

O'NEILL, CATHERINE       HENRY
GRO Reference: 1879  M Quarter in GATESHEAD  Volume 10A  Page 842

If I have the right family, it looks like Mary's maiden name was Henry?

So Patrick O'Neill married Mary Henry.

Queenie  :)

The daughters Mary and Bridget Henry have mothers maiden surname O’Neil ?
