Just a little more detail for James' first wife and family ........

For baptism of James Bailey 19.6.1825 – Biddulph, abode is Greenway Moor. Father a potseller
For baptism of Lettice Bailey 17.8.1828 – Biddulph, abode is Greenway Moor. Father a labourer
Burial 8 Oct 1829 of Mary Bayley Infant (age 2) – Biddulph, abode is Greenway Moor.

No burial for wife Mary found in Biddulph, but there is this one in Macclesfield which looks possible.

Thank you for this info Neale. It looks like James, Mary, and Hannah are the right people so I will continue my research in this direction. :)

The only thing you need to watch is the date of birth on the 1871 it says 1792 in 1861 it says 1797 in 1851 its 1795 and 1841 its 1796

You have to remember James was illiterate and people forget their year of birth

I don't think that your James is the son of James & Mary:

James, son of James & Mary Bailey, baptised 18th July 1791.
James, son of James & Mary Bailey, buried 23rd July 1791.

James, son of James & Mary Bailey, baptised 26th August 1792.
James, son of James & Mary Bailey, buried on 12th May 1801.

Queenie  :)

As Willow mentioned earlier there is baptisim in 1795 for a James Bayley in Biddulph, parents Thomas and Nancy (Anne) Bailey. I've found Thomas' burial record which has him placed at Greenway Moor the same place where James' children Lettice (born 1828) and James (1825) are recorded living when they're baptised.

Burial date 1831: - https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/5818ee08e93790de6a3d25d2?search_id=5a612108f493fdb03f715405&ucf=false
