Eric,

You may already have the following information.

I had a look at Pauline's Book and found reference (p23) to the marriage of the Rev. Barton to Jane Sharpe in 1743 daughter of the Sharpe family of builders who settled in the area in 1676.  There are references to Captain Butcher (p69) who was a churchwarden and involved in providing answers for the 1834 Poor Law Commission Report.  I also found (p97) residing in Bowness 1831 Allis Butcher widow landed prop, and also in 1841 Allis Butcher independent.  There is a question mark over the dates if the following information found in the newspapers on view Findmypast.co.uk is correct.

3/3/1838 Kendal Mercury

On the 20th ult at his father's residence, Windermere of consumption, brought on by too close application  to study at the Royal Naval, Camberwell, John Butcher aged 18 years, eldest surviving son of William W Butcher Esq and grandson of the late Rev W Barton, Rector of Windermere, Westmorland.

Westmorland Gazette 29/9/1832

On Wednesday the 26th inst at Windermere the wife of William Wain Butcher Master in the Royal Navy of a son her thirteenth child.

Cumberland Pacquet and Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser 8/1/1839

After a short illness on New Years Day in Cecil Street, London, William Wain Butcher Esq of Bowness Windermere aged 60 years.

I would assume that there must be naval records for William.

Susan,
Thanks for the extra information supplied.
I had previously used Cumbria Family History website (which seems to have disappeared or been changed) for transcriptions of newspaper articles, also for my Sutton line in Carlisle, but the one i missed was the birth of Alice's thirteenth child.
My sister had supplied the list of children when she volunteered at an LDS centre in Maryborough in Queensland but obviously missed a couple.
Your assistance is appreciated.
