Hi - I've got Joice's in my tree (my main line, so to speak) but they haven't crossed the river to Northumberland, to my knowledge - centred in Durham - however, am very keen to hear of more examples of this (fairly) unusual name 0 especially connected with Elliots who were a very wel-known family connected with the collection of folk-song in the area around Birtley, if I'm not mistaken!  'Twould be an honour to find a link!
Joice, Coburn, Fairs - Easington, Durham villages, Jarrow, Hebburn, Monkwearmouth, Chester le Street, Gateshead, Haswell....she was only a coal miner's daughter (well, grand-daughter)

Sorry its taken so long to find your mesage, but I'm an Elliott, and my ancestors from the 18o0's came from Holywell and the surrounding villages.

Please get in touch if you see this message.

Hi, I am part of the Elliott's of Birtley family. Unfortunately the family didn't come from Northumberland. The founder Frank was a foundling, born in County Durham . Sorry to disappoint you.
