Actually, this looks like the school in 1910 - William McKEE is the Dean. No Ivy CALDWELL listed, only 2 pupils included on census night.

Oh well found!  So it's under Salem township, not Mount Carroll.  And district 9.  Image 14.

When I looked for the date, it was enumerated 11th May, but other pages were different dates.  So does that mean that census date varied, or it was a fixed date but then compiled on other days as the enumerator worked through the entries?

I was thinking that the census date might have been during a school holiday, hence not many pupils?  So the Seeger daughters who were listed as 'at boarding school' didn't mean they were at school for the census, but at home. The boarding school comment was just to explain occupation?

Thanks so much Sandra - and well searched.

The Goodman sons are confusing - there were three on an early census, Owen, Franklin both same age, and Robert. Then later there was Oliver (error?) and Robert, and later referred to as Owen Franklin - so perhaps there were only ever two sons not three. Owen and Robert shown as stepsons to Raymond J Plunkett. So presumably John=Owen.  Confusing family and it doesn't help a jot with Ivy's origins at all.   

Thanks too for the Plunkett obit.  So he was connected with the lumber business. 

Still need to find Ivy on a 1910 and 1900 census - I've tried various wild cards in case her surname was mispelled or misheard but nothing.  There are a few William Caldwells, including one with a daughter Ivy but turns out not her.

If Wm refers to her late husband, then that's promising too

Does Janet J (Brown and Connor) Caldwell mean her maiden name was Brown and her first husband Connor?

Edit: Meaning Ivy could have been Ivy Connor and then taken the Caldwell surname?
