Dennis and Doreen Haw Middlesbrough

Does anyone know anything about a family surname Haw from Middlesbrough.

Dennis  Haw married Doreen nee Bateman 5/1/1950.
Middlesbrough.The Parish Church.North Ormesby.
Dennis was aged 20 years His Father was William Haw.
Living at 59 Westbourne Grove North Ormesby.

Dennis was at one time in the Army /worked as a window cleaner.

His father was William Haw Steelworker.


Doreen was 19 years old at time of marriage.
She was born in Liverpool 19/3/1930.
Her father was Thomas George Bateman.Cinema operator.

Her mother was Ada Elizabeth Bateman nee Bond.
Doreen died 14/7/1967 from multiple sclerosis.At time of death lived at 53 Woodlands Road Middlesbrough.

She had 5 children. She had one brother Thomas George Bond ( born out of wedlock)He was born 1928
He died aboard ship 1978 age 50 years ( Heart Attack)
I have tried to trace birth of Doreen in Liverpool but there is no record ?? Cant understand why. Surely she would have had to produce birth details at marriage. At one time family lived at ? Mill Street Middlesbrough House now demolished. Can anyone Help ??

From the age you gave, I may have found Denis on the Tees Valley Registry website.

It is spelt with one N however, and the date of the birth is 1929.  The entry is as follows:

1929 DENIS  M-M-084-0-0306 Middlesbrough

The M-M-084-0-0306 number is the number to quote to M'bro registry office if you wish to purchase his birth certificate. 

I cannot be sure this is your man, but it kinda looks like it.

Hi Victoria, my family surname is Haw, originally from Middlesbrough, my grandad was also called William though not the same one you are looking into, I will speak to my dad re the name Denis/Dennis as I am not sure of my grandads siblings etc I know he had a sister but not sure of any others!

Oddly enough I had an aunt by marriage whose surname was Haw.  They married in Middlesbrough in 1928 and lived there all their lives.  She was a daughter of Arthur Haw and Rosa Ward if you come across them in your travels.
