If you go on the Find a Grave website for Machpelah Cemetery you will see that Huw Waters has documented this cemetery & taken some photos of the headstones. There is a facility to private message Huw, perhaps he would be able to help you.

Old thread, I know, did you get a plan?  I got plot numbers from y ffôr website but I can’t match them to plots.

Gwynedd Family History have just published the inscriptions for this cemetery. There will be a map detailing grave positions in it https://www.chtgwyneddfhs.cymru/src/resources/rhestr-cyhoeddiad-mehefin-2025-june-publications-list-1.pdf
Jones, Parry, Williams on Lleyn, Hughes, Thomas on Anglesey/Caernarvonshire, Blunt, Davies, Lee in Dudley, Staffs
Cox, Humphreys and Keech, Bedford

I saw the macpelah plan and spoke to Cymdeithas Teuluoedd Gwynedd who created it. It seems that their plan does not correspond with the plot numbers used by ‘y ffôr.com’.

There seems to be another plan somewhere. I sent an email to llanllyfni parish council, but they didn’t respond. Apparently they hold the official plan. Some of the plot numbers are on the back of the headstones.

Did Gwynedd Family History confirm there is a headstone. If they did then they have location on a map. They can only record headstones that exist at the time. If there was no headstone you need to get grave location from Llanllyfni Council http://www.llanllyfni.org.uk/index.php/home
I can visit cemetery, but it is huge and no guarantee the headstone exists.

Hi, I’ve been. Some of the grave stones have numbers on the back. But it’s inconsistent so you can’t just count because it isn’t apparent which direction the numbering goes.

Y ffôr.com’s C section corresponds with the physical grave plot numbers but in cymdeithas hanes teulu gwynedd’s records it’s B section.

I emailed the parish council but I didn’t get a reply. I also visited the monumental stone masons that had their name alongside the plot numbers. They confirmed that the sections ABCD etc are correct but that plot numbers are not always known. They always ask the council but they don’t always get an answer.

The only hope you have is to look at the back of gravestone and if you’re lucky, the grave you’re looking for is nearby.

In my case I was looking for a grave for a Jane Ann Williams which is included in yffor.com’s list but isn’t on cymdeithas hanes teulu gwynedd’s list. I did find a slate with JAW initials on it only about three or four graves from her known parents. I think this is her grave but it would be good to find the source record. Yffor.com couldn’t remember where they got it from!
