At the Magistrates' Room on Friday, Mr Mr A. B. Brackenbury (Coroner) conducted an inquest relating to the death of Mr. Alfred Bunnage, of Russell-street who died suddenly the previous day whilst loading poultry on a G.N.R. lorry in Mr. S.V. Ekins' auction yard. – Alfred Wm. Bunnage, paper mill hand, said the body was that of his father, who was 58 years of age, a shoe maker by trade. For the last seven or eight years he had assisted Mr. S.V. Ekins in the poultry department of his auction yard. He had not suffered from any illness, and was in his usual state of health on Thursday morning. – Harry Chapman, auctioneer's porter, said he saw Bunnage in the auction yard at 4.0 p.m., loading poultry. A few minutes later he noticed him lying on his back on the ground. – Dr. E.H. Harrison made a postmortem examination. and gave the cause of death as syncope, following on extensive degeneration of arteries. –  A verdict of death from natural causes was returned. On behalf of Mr. S.V. Ekins, Mr. A.J. Huckle expressed deep sympathy with the deceased's family and relatives.
