My mother's next door neighbour divorced her husband late 1950s. I rememb er her asking my mother what happened next. The divorce nisi was published in that evening's newspaper and my mother told her that her divorce absolute would be in six weeks time.
If the couple got together after the divorce nisi and before the divorce absolute then they were still legally married.
