I require confirmation if possible that ELLEN LAURA BALLANTYNE /ST CLAIR/PUGH ends up being EMMA CROFT died 1899 buried Waverley NSW .Married Dr HENRY MARSHALL CROFT in NZ .I require assistance as the person in question  was on the stage had many aliases and one could say gilded the lily regarding her father place of birth etc .Traces of her husband also peters out and seems to end in NZ in the 1870s seems strange for a distinguished Surgeon ...

I see at the marriage in 1863 she is Emma Willoughby, ( an actress according to newspaper article from 1921)


And of course Emma widow of HMC at death. So it’s Ellen to Emma before 1863 you seek?
If her age at death is correct! 57, then She was only 21/22 at that marriage. (But I know full well that leaves plenty of years before to have different aliases, often all at the same time!)

One of the witnesses of the wedding was Thomas Wright Rowe.  Other newspaper mentions say he was trading as Thomas Fawcett.  He’s the guy whose theatre company Emma St Clair was in in NZ

Do you have “Emma St Clair” before 1856?  (In Australia)
I don’t see “Ellen St Clair” in Australia or NZ, other than the marriage to Charles Pugh.
