Henry is an artist working in monotype on wood, but in the 1939 registrar "on munitions" has been added in Red, presumably war work?
N.B. interestingly there are several other entries on the same page with additional notes.

"Works" rather than "wood" I would think. The Monotype works at Salfords was converted to munitions production in 1939. So he was a painter at the Monotype munitions works.
