Convention for who was where in c 1916 wedding photos

Can anyone help with the convention or tradition for where people were positioned in wedding photos from around 1916?
I have two family wedding photos from this period and have been trying to identify more of those in the photos, possibly from their position.

A "convention" as you put it would require a long and involved explanation and even then might not cover your specific photos. Would you mind posting your photos on here? The seasoned experts could then give their opinions as to the relationships.

Traditionally the couples parents stood next to the happy couple, the Bride's father with the groom's mother and the groom's father with the Bride's mother. Then the grandparents, the best man with the maid of honour then any bridesmaids and any adult siblings of the couple.  Not everyone followed convention, so that is only a rough guide.

Here is one of the photos. As I say, I know who the married couple are and one or two others. Any help with the relationships of others would be useful.

Please note I only see a small part of the picture when I first look. The whole picture is there but you have to scan across.

I know who the married couple are

You could find an exact date if you have their names - or when the marriage was registered.

It can help to know if their parents or older relatives were alive at the time for example to rule them out being in the photo.

I know the exact marriage date and also I know of several of the people who were probably there but just can't identify other ones they might be present. I was hoping a position convention might help me get an idea of who is who.

One gentleman jumped out at me. At first I thought he had a cigarette in his mouth - but gigar"ettes" weren't the fashion of the day (and nobody else is smoking). AND then I thought maybe it was drawn it... and then I concluded it "must be a scratch." Was that a scratch?

I've looked at the original and yes it's a mark on the photo. I'm guessing he's a relative of the brides family and the groom's family are mostly on the bride's side of the photo.
My dad is the youngest boy with the arm of my aunt around him at the front. My Nan is the lady next to the man with the mark on the photo, her husband, my Grandad, is in the back row.
