Explosion in Birmingham. February 1832
« on: Saturday 10 September 05 10:12 BST (UK) »
In the graveyard at St Denys' church, Ibstock, Leicestershire, is the gravestone of Eli Mead, who was "killed by an explosion at his Manuafactory at Birmingham, 14th February, 1832".

Does anyone have any information on this event or can someone suggest where it may be recorded?

Thank you.

TOG

A good starting point as you have a date would be the local newspaper for the area.  If it was a major incident then maywell be in the national newspapers.
Good hunting

was it definitely 1832?

found this record from a Google search:

Five by detonating powder in Cheapside, Feb 14, 1852 (history of Birmingham).

Maybe just an explosive date!
