Good "evening".

Are there any Wormingford experts in this forum please?

My paternal family hails from Wormingford and after years of research, a dna test, and head scratching, I know which line I am related to, but not where our line (aka my GGG Grandfather) fits in to it.

I could do with some helpful Wormingford lateral thinking help please.

John Dansey, born c 1811. Nicholas/Lydia were thought to be his parents, but their children are well documented in St. Andrews and elsewhere. I am aware of Robert Dansey in the 1831 census, but that is slightly mysterious to track down as well.

John is mentioned (as coming from Wormingford) in a couple of ploughing contests in the area, and in 1841 is in Hutton, then moves to Navestock, then Wanstead.

We just can't place him into Nicholas/Lydia's family, and the dna test suggested that the progenitor was earlier.

Who is recorded as his father on the 1849 marriage to Eliza Judd. That's a very good starting point

The marriage cert shows his Father as "deceased", no name, no profession. I don't know if this was John being evasive or not. He married away from Wormingford in Stapleford Abbotts.

At the Baptism of one of his children, the Father is named as Thomas.

I wonder if there are Church records that would show the parents' names, Banns were read.
