It all worked later in the evening. It was just a rather strange message in tiny type at the top of the screen.
I have been using FindMyPast so long that it never occurs to me to log in, and it is still only sometimes that I get asked.

I’ve been having an entirely different issue - newspaper downloads are completely washed out.

I noticed that yesterday on a search but as the article continued from previous page went back one and that was fine. Then went forward to the original and was black and clear. So that was what I did next search to read. The word picks weren't their ususal blue either.

Thanks for the tip. I was having the same problem and after following your advice it works!

Tried looking at an image this morning and it was back to normal - I assume the geeks have been tinkering again?
