Hi Does anyone recognise this parish? It's on a 1850 RC Marriage Record in Canada. Thank you.

I've discovered that the Irish Ancestors website has maps of Roman Catholic parishes. County Limerick is divided into East Limerick and West Limerick. Hovering over a parish gives any known alternative names for that parish. Very helpful. I've found that Bruree parish in East Limerick is also known as "Rockhill". Going with that for a starter. Thanks for all your suggestions.

As one rootschatter pointed out the name of the place is Richill townland-just a few miles NE of Limerick city.The RC parish is Castleconnell.I passed it on last saturday

Just a thought though that this is a record from the US and townlands & their concept would probably be quite unknown to record keepers there whereas 'parishes' were a well known descriptor, along with 'township'. Some times township was abbreviated to TWP/Twp which, in my early days of US searching puzzled me for a bit.

As the record was written by a Roman Catholic priest whose work is based on matters parochial, I doubt he would loosely use the word "parish" to identify a placename (such as a townland) - he would be recording the identity of the parishioners by reference to the ecclesiastical parish they hail from.
The full record reads:
"On the 7th day of May 1850 after the laws of marriage having been thrice proclaimed at the principle mass between JOHN McCORMICK, Widower of the township of Seymour on the one part, and BIDDY CONWAY (of age) daughter to DANL CONWAY & HONOR ENRIGHT of the parish of Riccail, C. Lymrick, Ireland, now Seymour, on the other part. No impediment having been discovered, I the undersigned Priest of this mission have recd their mutual consent to marriage - Witness Timothy Coughlan & Margaret McAuly.   Bernard I. Higgins."
