Ethnicity estimates should be treated with a huge pinch of salt!
Probably a whole bag of salt?!

A complete waste of time.

Yes agreed. If anything it gets less reliable with each update.  I also think matches are not coming through. They have got too big.

Hey, I’m twice the Viking that I was.

Now all I need to know where it comes from.

Rollo is going a tad to far back in time for me to have much of his DNA.

What others might like to do is what we have been doing for a few years.

I take a Screenshot of the Ethnicity results as soon as Ancestry says there is going to be an update.

Then I take another Screenshot just after the update.

All are filed as JPGs on my PC and backed up.

Comparing my Ethnicity from 5 years ago to what it shows now, one would presume it is the results for two different people.

Mine hasn’t changed at all this time. I should have Scottish which disappeared a couple of years ago - the rest of it does actually pretty much match my expectations. However, my daughter has just done her DNA - a bit more Scottish (12%) than we expected- including 5% inherited from parent 2 -me! How??!

I recall they started sideview with ethnicity and then some weeks later rolled it out to matches. I'm hoping this is them testing their chromosome browser prior to rolling it out to matches. Wishful thinking?

On 23andme you can phase child-parent's kits by linking the kits, which produces more accurate ethnicity %s. I assume Ancestry does not have this feature?
