Yes Rosie,  They were very helpful.  Unfortunately all the leads have come to a dead end, so it is back to the drawing board

For a recent death, you can lookup the death indexes up to 2020 on the GRO website. It’s free to lookup but you do have to sign in. If you need the death certificate then you can order one online.

You can also do a probate search for free.

If you don’t have a subscriptions to Ancestry or FindMyPast, you can use your local library’s online resources for free. Both have varied electoral registers etc., FindMyPast also has newspapers but they are more limited for more recent dates.

Of course this becomes more difficult if you have limited knowledge of the person’s age, location etc., or they have a common name.  You can also try looking up siblings to see if they or any or nephews are alive and contactable.
Please acknowledge when a restorer works on your photos, it can take hours for them to work their magic

Please scan at 300dpi minimum to help save the restorers eyesight.

As all names have been deleted (quite properly) I may be able to say that I do think the marriage that was posted is probably correct. The OP will probably recall it.
Remember that when looking on FreeBMD for possible birth registrations to the couple (I think there is only one, much later) you can click on the page number to see all the entries with the same GRO reference.
Doing this you might occasionally see a birth indexed under two different surnames. And this might be a clue that something has happened (changed), suggesting a likely new relationship.
It will give you something different to search for. Though, if it is the right person, it does not lead to a death record.
