Unfortunately we are not allowed to name or discuss anyone who may still be alive  :)

There must be acceptable reasons for asking whether someone is still living.  My wife lost touch with her close cousins while a teenager, because of a rift between her father and his sister.  Sixty years later she regained contact from the death record of the sister, following up the name of the informant.

And of course there are people whose job is to search for relatives of a deceased person - might they offer advice ?

You can ask for help just not include the names of anyone who may still be alive but this is a common requirement on all online systems, data protection act etc.

Best to specifically ask for help and seem someone to send a Personal Message offering their help, that way it is between you and your helper.
