In 1871 Agnes is aged 14 and is with her family in Darlington - Patrick and Agnes KEARNS, siblings Patrick and Rose.

I think that Agnes' sister Rose married in 1877 to Patrick CLARK and that the Patrick CAIRNS with them is the brother and the same person that is with Agnes on later census records.  They have just messed up his age throughout.  At least they have nominated Monaghan as their place of birth.
