Deciphering a French census

Is that a cedilla under the middle letter of the third word?
If so, could Pçe be an abbreviation for something?

Without any context it's difficult to be sure . The writer seems to have used 2 abreviations ( first and last word) .
Employé ? de... commerce ?

Why not give us the name of the town, so that we could go and see the original census?

Employé de ... is still most likely candidate and is often used in that column on the censuses.

If the pay for site is filae.com then gives us the link as some of us have a subscription.

Censuses on line are free in France , we just need the name of the town

I’m struggling with getting a screenshot down to the correct size to post on here. The website I’m using is Filae as I pay for some extra info. Town is Tonnay Charente in Charente Maritime. The man I’m looking at  is Albert Jouaud , born 1901

In this 1921 census he is the youngest in the family at 20. I’ve just noticed that his father Etienne is an accountant ( comptable ) and I think the next column says Renault I think

Could it be EMPLOYÉ DE COMPAGNIE (Spelt Cie for short).
In other words, employee

Ok guys, here’s the screen shot of the family, Albert is at the bottom.

I’ve just spotted that his father Etienne was an accountant at Renault ? So Albert could have been an employee there too ?
