McLaughlin

Does anyone have any information about the McLaughlins? I only know that my grans parents hadn't had children then they adopted a young relative after the childs parents died, and then had a few children of their own.  two of the girls were called Mary Rose (my gran) and Sadie (there were more, but I don't know their names) and there was one boy named Dennis (I think)
Dennis and my gran are both dead now.

Hi Anthony,  Sorry not been intouch for a while - need to work more hours now!!  Anyway I don't have much information on my McLaughlins.
My grandfather Daniel was born in Ireland Approx 1885 (he married in Scotland 1920) on his marriage certificate Father - John McLaughlin (engineer) deceased.  Mother Isabella (nee Cassidy) deceased.  So don't have any dates on either of them other than that they died in Ireland.  Daniel came to Scotland around 1900/01 to live with uncle Bernard (Johns brother) on the scottish census of 1901 date of birth estimated 1841 Bernards' wife listed as Mary born approx 1835/6 - no children.  He was a whinn quarryman and Daniel aged 16 is listed.    My dad thinks that there is a connection with a Rafferty family ? The story I was told is that Isabella died in childbirth and John remarried - new wife - new stepson.  They were aparantly evicted from the land that they were on and compensation was paid to the step brother.  He was comming to Scotland to share with my grandfather - he went to Canada or America instead.  (interesting story - but would really like to get some information on the family for my dad as he is getting on himself and would like to visit were his dad was from.)  Thanks for your time anyway.  Caroline x
Hi,

I am interested in the McLaughlin family - Northern Ireland.

John and Bernard McLaughlin , Brothers Born approx 1830 ish.   Bernard came to Scotland, married and settled.  John married an Isabella Cassidy and had a son Daniel in 1884/5 - again no details.  I was told that Isabella remarried after John died - to a Rafferty and they had a son or step son.
The areas that I am interested in are Armagh, Antrim, Coleraine, Londonderry, Sligo.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks!!!

Hi I am looking for some information on the McLaughlin's in Coleraine. I have been doing some reasearch but I have hit a brick wall, if anyone has any information I would be grateful if you could forward it on to me.
My father is Patrick McLaughlin, his father Vincent George McLaughlin was born in Coleraine in 1906, in Waterside, he was one of 14 children, there was
James E McLaughlin born in 1889
Jane McLaughlin born in 1894
Thomas McLaughlin born in 1890
Daniel Aloysious McLaughlin born in 1892 (I believe Dan changed the spelling of his name to MacLaughlin as he got older).
Henry P McLaughlin born in 1893
Monica McLaughlin born 23/06/1895 ( I know Monica became a nun, in Loretto Convent and was known Mother Gabriel).
Edmund McLaughlin born in 1897
Leo Albert or Albert Leo McLaughlin born in 1899
Gerald McLaughlin born in 1900/1901
Winifred McLaughlin born in 1898
Patrica McLaughlin born in 1903
Veronica McLaughlin born in 1905
Rosemary McLaughlin born in 1907
and of course my grandfather Vincent George McLaughlin born 11/07/1906.
Their parents where Patrick McLaughlin and Catherine Campbell. Patrick my great grandfather was a wine and spirit merchant, I don't know who his parents were.
I believe James McLaughlin who had a farm in Claggan, Bellarena, had 5 son's James, Daniel, Edward, Patrick and John. Daniel and Edward emigrated to the United States James stayed on his fathers farm.  I know from doing some research on the internet Patrick and John McLaughlin lived in Coleraine and had a career in the licensed trade. I believe James' son Patrick died in 1880 aged 68 and John died in 1897. My great grandfather Patrick was born in either 1856 or 1859 and also had a career in the Licensed Trade in Coleraine so I am guessing one of James' son's may have been
his father. If anyone could fill in this gap for me and also send other information I would be very grateful.
