Durham Light Infantry Regiment-fatalities
« on: Friday 09 September 05 12:29 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to trace a Geary who died in the first world war. He was in the DLA and was shot in the head.

Thanks
This is not the Geary I was looking for although he must be a relative. The names I have are, Christopher, Keith or Wilfred.

Do you know if he came from Durham, I have a book on the DLI 1st & 2nd wars but cannot find any reference to a Geary
If you knew where he was from there might be a memorial plague somewhere in the County.
My father was in the DLI in the 2nd war.

Hello
The Gearys I am looking for both came from County Durham. The names are Keith, Wilfred and Christopher. My brother is named Keith Wilfred after one of them. It may be that they were not in the DLA. The story is that the two young men were in the trenches in the first world war and Christopher looked over the trench and his head was blown off. His brother beside him, Keith Wilfred was blinded and suffered from mental trauma for years afterwards.

If they came from County Durham it is more likely that they were in the DLI,  dont quote me on that as I could be totally wrong  they could have been with any regiment.
I will have another look through my book and see if I can find anything.

Hello,

I have a list of fatalities for the 1/7th Battalion DLI and your man isn't among these, sorry.

If they were fatalities the CWGC will have them listed.
