Can someone kindly tell me why it might have , what looks like 'Omitted' written at the side of  a death entry?

By "death record" do you mean a death certificate, an entry in the GRO deaths index, or a parish burial register? Or something else?

I can't think of any reason for "omitted" to appear on a death certificate or the GRO index, but it's sometimes seen in a parish register where an entry has been overlooked and is then inserted out of the proper order.

More helpful if you gave full details of the persons name /death date/place etc as well as the info asked for above

You have posted on the Common Room board so we don't even know which country you are referring to - England/Wales/Scotland/Ireland

Sorry, I never thought of all that  Im a senior and having taken a long break am a bit rusty.
It was in Norfolk England, and solved being a parish entry.
Ill try to remember in future

Thank you.  That makes sense as it was a parish register in Norfolk England.  Id never come across that before. As it was a suicide I thought it might have another meaning. Im sorry if I asked on the wrong page. I seem to always get it wrong on this  site however had i try  lol
