Richard Mathew
« on: Thursday 15 June 23 22:34 BST (UK) »
Ancestry keeps suggesting Richard Mathew, who died 1 Aug 1610 in Vienna, as the father of my ancestor Edward Mathew (lived in Wiltshire). Based on another members tree. I have.asked them for the source but no reply. Maybe a long shot but has anybody got evidence of the death mentioned above? Is there anything to suggest he was from England?

Thank you for looking it up. I had considered that but Latton is along way from West Lavington? Though not as far as  Vienna  :) How can you be sure its the correct one?

To start, what are the baptismal details of the "Edward Mathew, Wiltshire" where Anc. are putting forward a "Richard Mathew, Vienna" as a possible father?

West Lavington is mentioned.

After a long break from family history, I'm just getting back to this. When you say 'West Lavington is mentioned', where do you mean? I've looked at the Latton baptism of Edward and marriage of Richard but I cant see it?

URLs posted against subscription/pay to view sites or sites that require registration/log in do not return the images intended by the poster where someone who does not subscribe or is not registered clicks on that URL.
As I don't subscribe to A* clicking on the URLs at reply #1 simply invites me to take out a free trial with them with a view to subscribing. Hence totally in the dark about details of marriage or baptism.

"West Lavington" is mentioned at reply #2. I had found a possible bap. for an Edward Mathew, father Richard, West Lavington but was unable to confirm it was "your" Edward as I had no access to A*. Reply #4 confirmed I was looking at a different Edward.

Welcome back.
