Hi Iasquith

Kirklees Council cemeteries.

In your offer to look up burial info: to help or advise to add further or beyond to your records for Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike grave look up that you don't have.

(They say)

"We can search for a grave with up to 3 names. Prior to 1995 our computerised records are minimal and we usually do a manual search of the registers. Most of our older records are available to view on microfiche by contacting the Kirklees Local Studies Library."

--------------------

Kirklees Bereavement services at Huddersfield crematorium administration Fixby Huddersfield hold most council records, they are free to do a search in person at the crematorium or a charge on line search. (see link below)

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thanks for the additional resources Dave.
It's also worth mentioning that recently I found a burial plot at Birstall Churchyard which I'd been looking for a long time. West Yorkshire Archives at Wakefield had the burial on their records along with a plot number and plot plan.

York Borthwick archives held in the university library have some burial records for West Yorkshire burial grounds as well.  :)

Hello,

Just wondering if there might be a William Blakey Stocks buried in Dewsbury, he died on 5/5/1889.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, William was interred 7 5 1889 aged 70 years, machine maker, Huddersfield Road Dewsbury
in the consecrated section plot B 341.

There are 3 more people buried in that plot:

Mary Stocks interred 30 9 1890 aged 62 years, widow of John Stocks 116, Huddersfield Road Dewsbury.

Jeanette Stocks interred 12 12 1895, aged 4 years daughter of John Stocks 123, Huddersfield Road Dewsbury.

John Stocks interred 2 12 1900 aged 36 years machine maker Station Road Chickenley

regards Ian

Hello Ian,

Thank you for your reply and help.

Two questions, 1) any chance the Mary mentioned was the wife of William Blakey and not James Stocks?

2) do you have any other Mary Stocks there, say before 1861?

Thanks again.

no the earliest burial was 1863 for 'Stocks' but doesn't seem to be related to your William.

double checked the original for Mary Stocks and it defo is 'relict John Stocks'

she is not in Batley either, suppose could have married again ?
