Hi. Just found this thread

I am the great-granddaughter of Annie Margaret Allen (known as Tottie). Tottie also had a sister Mary Elizabeth Allen

In our family records we have their mother's name as being Margaret Sullivan who married George Josiah Allen

So it is interesting to find out that Tottie's mother's name was more accurately Mary Hanlon O'Sullivan

Thanks Lu

I am undoubtedly taking this thread down a different path

Annie Margaret Allen and her sister Mary Elizabeth Allen married two brothers - Dr Michael Stanislaus Veech and his brother Nicholas Joseph Veech respectively

Our family is aware that M S Veech's death certificate is incorrect, and we are working towards having that fixed

Hi Lucy
I saw your posting dated 2023 where you were looking for a Sullivan family tree.  If you haven’t been successful, please contact me.  My husband is descended from one of Mortimer's siblings.  In total 5 siblings emigrated to NZ with Mortimer being the last to arrive.
Regards
Chris

Hello again Kat

The reason for my posting a response to your initial comments re: O'SULLIVAN-ALLEN,  was essentially just to offer links to actual records which act as confirmation / clarification as to the correct name of Mary Hanlon O'SULLIVAN.
[These links were posted earlier in this thread also - no harm done in repeating them.  ;D ]

I'm in no way related to the families mentioned in this thread ... merely a helper with some knowledge of accessing local and other records, which may (or may not) be of assistance in advancing this search. ;D

I can see now (some years later), that there are  27 or so " O'SULLIVAN family trees" now added to the ancestry.com website.   Some of these are the usual repeats where others borrow information from "trees" they perceive contain "correct" information.     Caution is advised on contents of all.

Can you just clarify ... "taking this thread down a different path", please ?    Unsure if you are needing/wanting further assistance ?    Cheers.

Hi Chris ... thanks for your query and associated PM.

It would have been an "O'SULLIVAN family tree" I was endeavouring to source back then (but only for the purpose trying to make sense of this thread.)    [Various trees since found  ;D ].

As I have recently mentioned, the persons being sought in this thread, are not my family.
I'm merely here as a helper with some knowledge of local and other records, which may (or may not) be of assistance in advancing this search.

Hi Lu
Thank you for clarifying.  The following comments are in the event that someone in the future may come across this posting:
I have been researching the NZ branches of the Sullivan / O'Sullivan family for over 25 years, so am very conversant with them.  I am presently involved in a DNA research study, with the sole purpose of identifying earlier Irish connections.  Anyone interested would be welcome to contact me.

Hi Lu

Not needing further assistance at this stage. I just referenced "taking this thread down a different path" as I am more focussed on the Allen side of the tree than going further back with the O'Sullivans. And the thread is about the O'Sullivans  :)

Of course, if you can find a link between these Allens and Fred Allen who played rugby for the All Blacks in the 1940s/1950s (or steer me in the direction to look) that would answer a different question we have  ;D
