Words on 1754 map

This is a very long shot but here goes!

We've always read the text from this map as 'Site of the Old Hall' but I'm not convinced about the first word and wonder if anyone has another suggestion? It seems to start with 'S' but it looks as if the third letter not the second is 'i'.

The blobs left of the word 'of' and lower centre of the image are trees. No better image is available I'm afraid and the feature isn't shown on any later map (there are no earlier maps either) :(

I’d stick with “Site of the old hall” - looks to me like a moat.

Could it be the name of the old hall? I don’t see the word ‘the’ before Old.  :-\

Very mysterious that a place on a map from 1754 is a secret. You’ve got me curious now.  ;D

It would probably help if we knew the precise location.

Added: looking again, maybe it is “Site of the old hall” ….  :-\ I suggest trying to find other maps of the same place to see what they say.
